The Office Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the office.
- Ensures the doctor maintains applicable medical licenses and certifications by keeping a detailed list of credentials and expiration datesto monitor renewal status. Maintain copies of certifications for quick access and verification.
- Maintains medical coding and billing proficiency. Pays attention to billing records to ensure the office is receiving correct payment for completed services. Required to assist with submitting claims to health insurance companies, processing the responses of the companies and requesting payment from patients when necessary.
- Responsible for overseeing the office facilities, arranging for after-hours cleaning workers, reporting any problems with the building and ensuring that supplies are replenished and re-ordered.
- Foster positive relationships with local health care and social services facilities
- responsible for maintaining intra-office efficiency and patient care standards
- Supervisor for receptionists, medical billers, transcriptionists and medical assistants who work in the office. Develop train, discipline and assess them.
- Implementation of efficient filing and storage systems, coordinating the schedules of all the doctors who work in the office, financial duties to include reconciling bank accounts, making deposits and paying bills. The medical office manager reviews the financial status of the practice with the owner or the office's accountant.
